bgr8!


What does it mean to bgr8?

It means to wake up everyday with purpose and passion.
It means to set a goal and follow an action plan.
It means to sacraficeIt means it doesnt always feel great when you go for it..but feels so good when you've accomplished it.
It means GOING FOR IT!
It means falling flat on your face, dusting yourself off and standing back up.
It means falling flat on your face again.
It means passing up those donuts because you've made a commitment to eat better.
It means eating that donut on Sunday to reward yourself for eating right all week!!!
It means telling your mother you love her.
It means saying "I forgive you"
It means running 3 consecutive 8 minute miles. YEAH!
It means walking for an hour straight. three times this week.
It means feeling ALIVE!
It means working on a project all week with your team and nailing it!
It means hitting the winning basket with 3 seconds to go.
It means making spin class after too much wine last night.
It means commitment.
It getting that job.
It means desire.
It means self respect.
It means joy.
It means fun.
It means passion.
It means a FIRE in your belly.
It means dedication.
It means resliance.
It means hard work.
It means rest.
It means relationship.
It means heart.
It means soul.
It means practice.
It means accountability.
It means leading.
It means being led.
It means BALANCE.

Get Ready Summer...here we COME!


With the first weekend of warmth after a fairly brutal winter...there is excitement in the air.Spring is truly right around the corner and then comes summer.Summer means less clothes...which to me means TIME TO START LOOKING FLAWLESS HONEY!!!!This weather gets me so excited because I can start working out OUTSIDE now. Running on the westside highway and Central Park. Riding into the Palisades. Swimming in the Hamptons. Boot camps in The Hamptons and the city!!!! (or whatever city you may be in!!!)I guess what I'm trying to say is that this is the perfect time to put together your fitness action plan. You have just about 3 solid months to get it DONE!!!! IF you're not where you want to be right now then let's make sure we take ACTION right now.
Here are a few tips:
1. Take the stairsFrom the subway to the office to our apartment there are opportunities abound for taking the stairs. Its so easy to take the escalator or elevator, but now is the time to ditch this habit! It seems small, but little things can make all the difference on the path to toned thighs! The stairs get your legs working and if you take them regularly, results will follow! If you work on the 15th floor, start by walking down the stairs and slowly make it your goal to walk up them!
2. Keep a Food JournalWhat we eat is half the battle. Truth be told when we think about what we eat and say "I dont understand why I cant lose this last 5 lbs, I eat perfectly"....how many times do you then say "oh yeah...I forgot about that piece of candy, that drink, those hor'deurves, those chips.....aaaahhh!!" I am guilty of this myself. Not only does it paint an accurate picture, you think twice before putting something in your mouth, knowing that you are going to have to write it down. I have all my clients keep a journal for these very reasons. ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!
3. Try new things!Exercise can be TOUGH for many reasons, a common one being boredom. It is important to keep your exercise programme diverse, your body needs change, to work the different areas of your body and keep you excited about exercise! Try something new to get you invigorated this summer! Classes at the gym or outdoor bootcamps can be fun and a GREAT way to meet new people.
4. Get a Partner!Encourage a friend, family member or spouse to be an exercise partner and join you in your weight loss efforts — but they must be absolutely committed to success. Sharing your journey to optimal health, fitness and weight loss success can help you reach your goals. Still, on any given day, regardless of your partner's commitment or mood, you must stay totally focused and in the game. STAY IN THE GAME!!!
5. TRIM YOUR FRIG DOWNGet rid of temptation. DO yourself a HUGE favor and set yourself up for success!!! If it's not a food that is serving you in your race for summer fitness then get it out of the house. This is not to say that you won't ever have ice cream or cake or a treat here or there, but those should be planned. At the very least, make yourself have to leave the apartment and GO GET IT. That in itself will make ya think twice!!!
